HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College junior Smiljana Kljajic and senior Alicia Lasry have been selected to the 2015 Conference Carolinas Women’s Tennis All-Conference Team, the league announced Thursday.

Kljajic was named All-Conference Second Team, while Lasry gained All-Conference Third Team status. Both are being recognized for the second time in their careers. Lasry was a Second Team member in 2013, while Kljajic was a First Team choice last year.

For the first time, the honor was handed out based on a season-long points system instead of a vote by the league’s coaches. In large part, Kljajic and Lasry earned their awards together through their play as partners in the No. 1 doubles slot for the Lady Bulldogs. The duo recorded eight wins in league play, the fourth-highest total in the conference, and was 12-6 overall in doubles.

Kljajic, a resident of Palic, Serbia, went 10-8 overall in singles and 7-4 in league play, all in the No. 1 slot. During the middle of the season, she put together a run of nine wins in 11 starts, including a streak of five in a row.

Lasry had an overall record of 7-11 at the No. 2 spot, but was 6-5 in conference matches. All seven of her wins in 2015 came in straight sets, while four of the losses were in three-set matches.

Together, they helped the Lady Bulldogs to a 6-5 league mark and a sixth-place finish in Conference Carolinas. Barton had a winning league record with exactly six victories in each of Lasry’s four seasons in the Royal Blue and White.

Kljajic and Lasry will lead BC into this weekend’s Conference Carolinas Tournament, where they will face No. 3 seed University of Mount Olive on Friday at noon in Sumter, S.C.
