September 10, 2018 – Barton College is strongly recommending students evacuate Wilson in advance of hurricane Florence prior to 5 p.m. tomorrow, September 11. The College asks that students make every effort to go home, to find a friend to stay with that is further outside the sorm’s path, or another alternative outside of Wilson

If students are unable to leave, all residence halls other that Waters Hall will be closed. Students still on campus past 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11 will be relocated to interior hallways of Waters Hall, where they will be provided accommodations. These conditions will be conducive to safety of students, but may not provide the most comfort. This is why the college is encouraging as many people as possible to go home.

Students must register with their RA today as to their plans on leaving or staying. Once the storm begins, students will not be allowed to leave Waters Hall without permission from staff. La Drau Apartments and Holloway House will close tomorrow. Please contact the Residence Life Office if you have any questions.

Before students leave:

• Move all items away from windows
• Make sure windows are closed and locked tight
• Do not leave any electronics or valuables on the floor
• Lock your door
