After earning a berth in the Conference Carolinas Tournament, the Barton College men’s soccer team fell to No. 1 seed, and the No. 1 team in NCAA Division II, Pfeiffer University 5-0 on Tuesday night.

The Falcons, who are 18-0 on the season, totaled 21 shots in the match including eight on goal while holding the Bulldogs (3-13-1) to just three shots overall. Sophomore keeper Jens Madsen Hordvik recorded three saves in the loss.

Pfeiffer opened with a goal early in the 8th minute of play as Santi Moar finished a cross from Nathan Regis into the top corner for a 1-0 lead. PU carried a 2-0 lead into the halftime break as Martim Galvao scored on a free kick from 25 yards out.

BC kept the match close in the early goings of the second half until the Falcons added their third goal in the 60th minute of play.

Regis scored his nation-leading 23rd goal of the season in the 70th minute for a 4-0 lead before Pfeiffer added its fifth and final goal on a shot from 30 yards out by Paco Cortez Vazquez in the 74th minute.

The victory gave Pfeiffer the right to host the remainder of the conference tournament, and advanced the Falcons into a semifinal matchup on Friday against No. 4 seed University of Mount Olive.
